Cannes Film Festival is the biggest film and red carpet event in Europe. The festival has its origins in the late 1930s when Jean Zay, the French Ministar of National Education, set up an international cinematographic festival. However, 1946 is considered to be the year of the foundation of Cannes Film festival.
The festival became an important part of the European cinema, both for critical and commercial movies. In 2013 the 66th annual festival is being held, between May 15 and May 26. The president of the Jury will be Steven Spielberg.
Week 1 was glamorous and elegant.
Here are my best dressed ladies of the week 1:
The best dressed award goes to Jennifer Lawrence. She appeared to promote the second part of her blockbuster movie "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" and she attended the premiere of the "Jimmy P. (Psychotherapy Of a Plains Indian)", and with no surprises left- she wore Dior on these occasions.
My favourite was a black-white Fall 2013 gown, which made Jennifer looking stunning. I especially liked her red lipstick and a simple accessorial:
The other two looks were photocall looks, also from the Fall 2013 collection. Black and white were dominant colors again, but I love how did Dior make that draped detail from the dresse's waist, with a printed Warhol "Femme Head 1958" artwork. I also love Jennifer's shoes choices:
The most elegant award goes to Nicole Kidman, who is a member of this year's Jury in Cannes. In the first week Nicole looked amazing, therefore I would like to see her more often on the red carpet. Last week she only had two premiere red carpets and a few photocalls, which is a shame due to her always impacable styling.
The first look I really liked was Dior Spring 2013 Couture gown. The strapless floral creation was paired with a high ponytail, Ferragamo cluthc and a rouge lipstick.
Nicole's second red carpet appearance was in red, blue and black L'Wren Scott. I absolutly love everything about this look. So classy!
The most romantic award goes to Sonam Kapoor in Dolce & Gabbana:
The biggest WOW moment award goes to Nieves Alvarez in Ralph & Russo Couture:
The best model award goes to Cindy Crawford in Roberto Cavalli. I have always been her fun so maybe I am not realistic about this one. She always looks perfect to me :)
The "Age is not a problem to look perfect" award goes to Jane Fonda in Versace.
The best Elie Saab award goes to Fan Bingbing and Carina Lau.
The biggest dissappointment award goes to Eva Longoria who, although she looked beautifull, didn't bring her familiar "WOW Cannes" moment, like she was doing before. Something was missing this year.
It is not allowed to copy the pictures. They do not belong to me!
